Giacomo Pirozzi is an Italian photographer. Trained as a sociologist, he became a professional photographer in 1990, working for UNICEF and other development agencies.
He lived in the Ivory Coast, Kenya and South Africa for 17 years and has travelled and photographed in 105 countries in Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, Central and Eastern Europe, and Africa. Prior books include: C’est ma taille qui m’a sauvé (My Height Saved Me), 1997, on recovery processes for children following the Rwandan genocide, and Children of Africa, 1999.
Pirozzi also created a methodology to introduce photography to children living in poverty or distress, and has led many child photography workshops for UNICEF in diverse countries. He is represented by Panos Pictures, London, and presently lives in Tuscany, Italy.

EYE SEE TOHOKU
– The joint project of UNICEF and Sony took place in 3 towns within the affected area of the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami,in November.

A Journey With Children
– UNICEF Photographer Giacomo Pirozzi undertook a six-week voyage through the beautiful Philippine archipelago. A Journey with Children contains four chapters that offer a tapestry of images depicting the lives and capturing the voices of children living, playing and working in the streets.

EYE SEE
– "EYE SEE" digital photo project, organized by UNICEF and Sony, helps children develop the ability to express their voices for social issues that directly affect them. Children learn how to express their thoughts and feelings, and communicate with the wider world. Sony hopes that the experience will empower the children and also will help building a brighter future for their communities.

The Rights of Children
– The Rights of Children is a visual representation – in photographs by Giacomo Pirozzi – of the rights specific to children that are defined by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. It consists of eight chapters illustrating principal articles of the Convention that detail these rights and the obligations of States and citizens to implement them.
